Oyetola at Lake 264
Governor Gboyega Oyetola has directed officials of the ministry of works and Water corporation to visit the Lake 264 along the West bye pass, Malam Tope area, this morning.
The Governor visited the area yesterday (October 8, 2019) evening following reports of extensive damage occasioned by waters from the dam which overflowed its bank.
It was said the volume of water washed away bridges and flooded the area, until men of the Federal Fire Service came around for temporary canalization which brought the level of the water down.
Governor Oyetola who was accompanied by his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi and some Government officials sympathized with the people of the area and assured that immediate action would be taken on the dam to forestall recurrence as the rains have not subsided.
Earlier yesterday, the Supervisor for Environment Dr Bisi Obawale had visited the scene to ascertain the level of the damage.
Residents who spoke with the Governor expressed satisfaction with his visit to the area. According to them, his administration is one with a human face.
