As election year is moving closer, the main assignment of a serious Political organization is to close ranks of her members in order to get a better result.


The Youth Wing of Irewole local government, Ikire under the leadership of Comrade Adegoke Akinwemimo, was on Thursday, 12th November, 2020 organized a symposium for some selected youth stakeholders within the local government.


The theme of the meeting is to aggregate the problems of the Party at the Council and to profer solutions to them in order to get a better result for 2022 governorship election in the area.


The parley was a successful deliberation platform for the Party members, who without fear or favour expressed their feelings, and registered their greviances from ward 1 to 11 which constitute Irewole local government and Local Council Development Area.


The big success of the symposium was recorded through quality leadership contributions of Irewole local government Chairman and his LCDA counterpart, Hon Aderemi Abass and Hon. Opeyemi Adeboye, who practically and theoretically gave adequate answers to all the issues raised and enjoyed members to continue to work together as a team so that dividends of democracy can spread across to everyone one by one.


In their separate remarks,  Hon. Remi Abas and Hon. Opeyemi Adeboye said, the future of APC is in the hands of youths and therefore, they must put their differences behind them and continue to work assiduously for the progress of the Party.


The Council Bosses also used the opportunity to xtrayed their good works and efforts to make the Party and Government attractive to the people and especially to the members of the Party.


After the deliberations, the Irewole Youths Leader who also doubled as the Chief Host, Com. Goke Akinwemimo appreciated all the key players, the two Council Bosses, Hon. Remi Abass, Hon. Opeyemi Adeboye, and Com. Badmus Opeyemi aka (BODI). The Youth Leader said their generous and kind contributions played key roles in recording success at the program. He also pledged to deliver the communique to highest authority of the Party for necessary action.


Some of people who participated in the symposium are Irewole LGEA Board Members, some Parliamentarians, representative of Hon. Maruf Larry Jay, ILERI OLUWA vendors, Ward Youths Leaders and Secretaries. Leaders of O'meals vendors, and some selected Party members.

The youth wing of Irewole local government Ikire under the leadership of comrade Adegoke Akinwemimo on Thursday, 12/11/2020 organized a symposium for some selected stakeholders and targeted youths in the local govt headquarter..


The mission for the symposium is to find lasting solutions to the problems affecting the party at the council and to proffer solution and boost Oyetola success for his second term re-Election..


It's was a successful deliberation for the party members, who without fair or favour expressed their feelings and registered their greviance which is affecting each wards in Irewole local govt and the LCDA


The  success of the symposium was  notable by the quality of leadership contribution of Irewole local govt Chairman and his LCDA counterpart, Hon Aderemi Abass and Hon Opeyemi Adeboye respectively. They both gave practical and theoretical response  to all the issues raised and enjoined members to have hope. They opined that our dreams and hope can only materialised if we work as a team for desire result.

As part of the State of Osun government efforts in seeing to the state being malaria free, Irewole local government under the chairmanship of Honourable Remi Abass, flags off free distribution of insecticide treated net for the year 2020.


According to WHO, in the year 2018, Nigeria is among the six countries that accounted for more than half of malaria cases worldwide which shows its endemic to Nigeria.


In a low key event held at the local government secretariat, the chairman appreciated the federal and state government commitment to ensure Nigeria is malaria free while he lauded the efforts of the international partners, WHO, CRS, SFH, CHEMONICS and others in achieving the feat.


He revealed that the mosquito nets have been made available for every household in the local government as he passionately appeal to everyone to cooperate with the net distribution officials.


The event had a short drama presentation depicting how the net can be hang in the house.


Also speaking at the event, Hon. Mrs Dele Mary Adeboye, wife of the Irewole North East LCDA chairman, who is the Net advocate for Irewole local government, expressed her concern for the many lives that have been lost to malaria infection in the past as malaria is still the cause of death of many pregnant women and children in Irewole local government.


However, she revealed her excitement with the provision of net for every household in the local government as she attest to the safety and effectiveness of the nets in preventing malaria thus preventing malaria infection.


She urged everyone to play a part to achieve a malaria free State of Osun.


The event had in attendance Irewole North East LCDA chairman, Honourable Adeboye Opeyemi, all political heads, Chief Imam, Alhaji Olorunose, CAN Chairman, Reverend Shittu, Head of local government departments, WHO, CRS, SFH, CHEMONICS and The Net Campaign Team.

The state government of Osun, under the leadership of  Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, has affirmed his administration's  commitment to take people welfare as a top priority.

The Governor added " Nothing can be achieved in the absence of people-oriented programmes and making people to have sense of belongings".

Oyetola,  spoke through his Deputy, Mr. Olugboyega Alabi, at a meeting organized by All Progressive Congress (APC), Irewole Local Government, Chapter , Ikire, under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Arimiyau Owoade.

The governor  affirmed the Government readiness to empower Osun people through no interest loan, for the purpose of supporting  people in their various businesses.

He also  appreciated  members of the party for their unrelenting efforts in delivering the gospel of the good governance of Oyetola's administration to people, charging them to sustain the tempo.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor, who doubles as Chairman Osun COVID-19 Task Force Team, used occasion to sensitise people to observe all precautionary  measures laid down by World Health Organization, as a way of containing the spread of the ravaging coronavirus. 

Speaking earlier, the Secretary of Irewole Elders Forum, Hon. Tayo Fawole, moved a motion to support Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his Deputy, Mr Gboyega Alabi,  for second term in office,  which was unanimously seconded by all wards executive members present at the meeting.

Also, there were progress reports from 11 wards,  which constitute  Irewole local government and LCDA,  where the ward Chairmen confirmed to the leaders of the party how members of PDP and ADP were moving to the party in droves.The wards Chairmen also appreciate Local Government Council Chairmen, the duo of Hon. Aderemi Abbas and Hon. Opeyemi Adeboye for their all-time support for the party.

Present at the meeting were some bigwigs of the Party,  both at the federal, state and local government levels, which include the Chairman Elders Forum, Alhaji Fasasi Ayoade Olubowale, Hon. Isiak Ayodele Owoade, Hon. Olasunkanmi Omotuntun, Hon. Tewogbade Aliu (APC State Youth Leader), Mrs Haastrup Funmilayo Ogunrinde, Mrs Okunola, Mrs Wuraola Ojo, Mr. Kunle Agbaakin. Hon Dayo Oyebamiji among others.

The Deputy Governor, State of Osun, Benedict Alabi,  has congratulated his elder sister, who is the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.  Patricia Olubunmi Etteh,  on her 67th birthday.


Alabi, described the former parliamentarian as an organised personality with high sense of coordination, hard-work and diligence, adding that, Etteh has written her name in gold in the sand of time within  Nigerian political circle and comity of nations.


This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Olaniyi Ajibola, on Monday,  in Osogbo.


He added that the courage and resilience the former speaker displayed, which afforded her the opportunity to break an age-long barrier to emerge as the head of the lower chamber in Nigeria are worthy of emulation by young generation of women. 


The Deputy Governor,  further eulogised Etteh as a strong pillar of support for her family and the ancient town of Ikire as a whole.
