 Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state of Osun has restated the commitment of his administration to improve social services and development of the state.  The aim is to make Osun a reference point of economic development within and beyond Nigeria.

Mr Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi stated this on Sunday, Dec. 8th at the 2019 adult harvest and fund raising at Cherubim and Seraphim movement Church (Ayo ni o) district headquarter, Ile-Ife.

The Governor who said he was delighted to be at the occasion adding that his administration was established by God to deliver good governance to the entire citizens and inhabitants of Osun. He therefore called for prayers of the saints towards achieving success.

According to him, spiritual followers perished under a bad leadership . He was impressed that the Christian faithfuls are under the leadership of a good leader. He expressed his appreciation to the people for voting the present government into power and assured them for electioneering promises fulfilment.

Mr. Governor also charged the people to always cast their burdens unto God adding that He, God is sufficient to meet their needs.

 In his address, the leader in charged of the church, Dr Adeola Ola disclosed that Governor Oyetola and his Deputy, Mr Alabi are humble men with dignity saying they are faithful companions while prayed God for divine wisdom and a successful administration.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State Osun has commended the Nigerian Air Force for embarking on “Operation Buje Ekun,” an exercise designed to demonstrate its combat readiness to confront criminals in the state in particular and the South West region in general.

He also expressed his preparedness to join the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to flag off the exercise on Thursday, in Ipetu Ijesa.

The Governor made these known on Wednesday, when the Air Officer, Commanding Special Operaions, NAF, Air Vice Marshal JMD Gwani and his team, paid him a visit, at the Government Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, ahead of Thursday’s exercise.

Oyetola noted that the exercise will send signal to criminals that Osun is not a place for them to operate, just as he appealed to residents around the exercise zone not to panic, insisting that only the criminal elements will be on the run.

"I thank you most sincerely for this visit, and I thank the Chief of Air Staff for his interest in security of the nation in general, and Osun in particular.  I put it on record that his effort through the 209 Quick Response Group, Ipetu Ijesa in collaboration with our team is yielding result.

"Taking the Exercise Buje Ekun to Osun is a good one, because it will send the right signal to criminals that Osun is not safe for them.

"When we talk of general security issue, Osun is one of the most peaceful state in Nigeria, though occasional issue may come up once in a while, but Osun is still a peaceful environment. We are in a hurry to develop the state, which is why we take security as a priority. We are ready to give you the necessary support needed to make your job of securing our state and its environs easy" Oyetola said.

Earlier in his remarks, Air Vice Marshal JMD Gwani stated that the essence of the Counter Terrorism exercise is to prepare and armed the troops for the security challenges confronting the nation.

He added that the counter terrorism groups are strategically placed at geographical zones and sensitive places across the country, adding that Osun was chosen in the South West because it already has an Air Force Command Base, and this gives it an opportunity to train the troops adequately.

Gwani commended Governor Oyetola for making security in the state a key factor to consider. He called for the collaboration of other stakeholders in combating security challenges, saying no one security agency can handle it alone.

Other members of the team that visited Governor Oyetola included Group Captain DM Komo, Commander  209 Quick Response Group Ipetu Ijesa and Captain C.O Olayera.

Deputy Governor State of Osun Mr Benedict Alabi has said on Tuesday that the state would witness tremendous social and economic transformation during the second year of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration.

Mr Alabi disclosed this while charting with newsmen  shortly after he had featured on an OSBC Radio programme "Oyato".

He submitted that the first year of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration witnessed serious turn around in the areas of health, security, mining and infrastructure.

He said that the social/economic development of the state led the present administration into the recently concluded 3 day Osun Economic and Investment Summit.

According to him, the summit has begun to yield positive results with the good reponse  from both local and foreign investors.

The State of Osun Deputy Governor disclosed that the executive order issued by the Governor on the immediate establishment of Osun Investment
Promotion Agency is a tactical way of opening the state and its endowment to all round growth.

"We have had a lot of good response and support  from both local and foreign investors and business partners as a result of the summit we held recently and one of them is American Embassy in Nigeria.

"The US embassy in Nigeria is now partnering with us for business and economic development and it has shown readiness to come to the state and partner with us, meet with  a lot of people on SMEs in the state which means they have seen the potential of the state.

"We have purchased about 20 Armoured personnel carriers and another 20 security patrol vehicles with security gadgets and we have redesigned our security architecture in order to improve on security".

"All these and many we have done, our roads are being rehabilitated, our hospitals and primary health centers are being revitalized.

"When we revitalize our hospitals and health centers, we have to employ many people to work there and we have to equip those facilities with drugs and necessary medical equipments and all these we have done and we shall continue to do to ensure proper health care delivery for the benefit of our people.

"So what we are expecting in the second year is a second level. It is like when you have planted something, you will want it to germinate. You will all see the manifestation coming out of what we have done in the first year, Mr Alabi concluded.

The Deputy Governor had earlier while featuring on the programme appreciated the good people of the state for the trust and confidence they have in the present administration and for their unalloyed support.

He however urged the people to continue to play their own part by doing what they are paid to do at work, pay their taxes and levels regularly and support the government in her effort to bringing a  desired development to the state.

Mr Alabi assured that Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration would not rest on its oars in fulfilling all the promises made to the people of Osun.

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on Tuesday inaugurated four socially-inclusive micro projects to celebrate 2019 international day for persons with special needs.

This is as he also reiterated the administration's commitment to building a state where there will be equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of the difference in their respective physical status.

Oyetola maintained that the current administration has demonstrated great commitment to the welfare and education of the physically challenged persons in the same way it has done for their able-bodied colleagues.

The governor spoke at the School for the Physically challenged in Osogbo where he also formally inaugurated  the micro projects including Braille Press Center for the blind, hostel for girls with disabilities, fencing of school of children with special needs and tricycles for the physically challenged group.

"As an administration, we place high premium on persons living with disabilities, we accord them the same attention and recognition as their able-bodied colleagues, and we make them an important part of everything we do," Oyetola stated.     

He disclosed that the State of Osun has 10 schools for persons with special needs – 8 residential and 2 day schools, adding that the government has remained committed to ensuring that feeding allowances and grants are promptly released to the schools.

He said the government also provides the schools with instructional materials while also training and re-training their specialist teachers.

He also expressed the government's readiness to appoint from the people with special needs their representatives in the  government, adding "We want to break all borders and ensure that no one has an excuse to waste his talent and deny Osun and the larger society their contributions."

"The Braille Press Center for the Blind houses books and other reading materials transcribed for blind children to enable them to review and study the written words with the aid of the Braille. This will enhance literacy and intellectual capability.

"This Braille Press Centre is unique, it is the first of its kind in the South West of Nigeria and it is supported by the State Government and managed by the Blind group. It will provide job opportunities for the blind and make them relevant members of the society," Oyetola added.

Earlier in her address, the General Manager of Osun Agency for the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), Mrs Funmi Aderonke said the four (4) completed micro projects are in tandem with the three philosophical principles of the State Development Agenda which are poverty eradication, gender and social inclusion, value addition and sustainability of development.

She revealed that government in conjunction with the World Bank through the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) has committed one hundred and nine million, three hundred and seventeen thousand, eight hundred and fifty-five naira (N109, 317,855.00) for 48 socially inclusive micro projects, including the four being inaugurated  today.

Also speaking, the Mistress of the school, Mrs.Titilayo Amoo, thanked the state government for the support and love for the people with special needs in the state, adding that the projects would increase the quality of teaching and learning in the school and enhance the pupils' performance.

In their separate remarks, some of the pupils thanked Mr. Governor for giving priority to their education and welfare.

They commended him for identifying with them on the auspicious occasion, adding that he was the only governor who has visited the school since its establishment over 20 years ago.

“It is well known amongst the Islamic faithfuls that Imam Muritadha played his role very well as the Chief Imam of Apomu land. He preached the truth according to the dictates of Al Qur’an and Sunna of Rasul (SAW). He would be missed by all for maintenance of unity among the faiths within Apomu and even in the State of Osun.
